Books to the Sky

“Books to the ceiling, Books to the sky, My pile of books is a mile high. How I love them! How I need them! I'll have a long beard by the time I read them.” ― Arnold Lobel

The Druggist

On Halloween five years ago,  5 year old Maya Halman was kidnapped while trick-or-treating with her mother, Cecilia. The drugged dart used on Cecilia was missing, but lab tests of her blood link the attack to a serial kidnapper who strikes only on Halloween. Eric Halman came home from Iraq and made it his mission in life to find his daughter’s kidnapper. Using all of the skills from his years overseas, Eric has been stalking the kidnapper only to miss him each year, some times by mere blocks. This year is different, the net is tightening, and Eric will find him.

Written by Todd Croak-Falen, this book is only 29 pages long, but packs a huge punch. The story grabs you from the very start and does not let up. The pacing is perfect and the conclusion was startling. As soon as I finished it, I made my husband read it. I just had to have someone else experience it right that minute! I can’t recommend it enough.
